Saturday

I managed to do some packing but mostly I focused on other things. I ordered some Portland maps so I took one of them and plotted out some of the more interesting places I've found on Craigslist. I definitely have options for when I go there this week. I just hate apartment hunting so I hope I find something right away so I can relax a little.

We went into the city this morning to pick up boxes from work. We also went to Shake Shack which just opened again for the season. I love that place!

Now I am watching basketball and waiting for my sister and nephew to arrive. They are here for a few days of sight-seeing. I won't be able to really join them because of work and tomorrow is one of my last full days of packing before I head to Portland this week and I have movers come to do estimates.

Two frustrating things about tonight: Georgetown losing to Ohio State. Bjork performing live in NYC just as I leave.

One bright note: Corin Tucker has been playing some shows in the Portland area.

Apartment Showing

They still haven't rented our apartment which is a little surprising. He said he turned down two people for less than stellar credit. I have a feeling we would have been rejected if we had been applying now instead of two years ago. Either way, I wish he would rent it sometime soon so we don't have to keep the place in a constant state of order. It is really hard to do when you have a dog and you are trying to pack.

I really like my current landlord. I have never had a landlord so responsive to every single issue. He gave us a gift certificate for a free pizza when we first moved in. Every year at Christmas, he gives us gift certificates for local restaurants. They aren't cheap places.

Elston put on a great performance for two people who were looking at the place tonight. She dropped on her back and asked for her stomach to be rubbed. Please.

Back down to the grim storage unit...

Slow Progress

Going to bed at 8 pm last night really did not help to make a dent in the packing. I have my trip to Portland all planned out for next week. On Monday, I need to start scheduling appointments to view places but I have my flight, rental car and hotel. I am having dinner with my future co-workers on one of the nights, breakfast with my future boss and hopefully some time with friends on other nights.

I really can't look at the calendar to see how soon all of this is happening.

Packing

The packing has started. Almost all of my non-fiction books have been packed with the exception of reference and cookbooks (yes, I actually have some cookbooks). It has been more emotional than I anticipated to start packing up our apartment. I distracted myself for awhile by watching the Kansas game.

Fortunately, I am finally starting to feel better after a week of fighting a really bad sore throat, cough, and fever.

Starting Off

Once again there is a new blog.

Once again there is a new job.

Once again there is a move involved.

Once again there is a resignation letter to write.
