On to better news. The theme the last few days has been tasting. First, I went with friends to a wine festival at the Evergreen Aviation Museum in McMinnville. Not only was there good wine, we also saw the Spruce Goose. I climbed around in a plane and generally acted a little silly after a couple of wine flights.
Tonight was a meet the brewer event with Ninkasi Brewery. The Tricerahops Double IPA was my favorite. Why wasn't this brewery in Eugene when I lived there?

If someone could answer that question ("Why do politicians do this type of stuff knowing the risks of getting caught?") they would be rich. I too am extremely annoyed by certain choices made by seemingly stellar folk. I don't expect my public servants to be perfect, but the irony ! The Irony!
It's not just politicians; all celebrities seem to think they are above the law (whether it's just the law of decency or the LAW). Well, maybe it's that celebrities and politicians have the wherewithal to think they can afford to do this sort of thing. And they can move money for legislative reasons, so why not move it for desire reasons? Or make people do something because you can. One step leads to another.
It's not just politicians, other celebrities too. They can make moves on legislation for the public good and forget that there's a line between that and personal good. You don't have a REAL life so you don't think you have real obligations. Even the famous subway-taking mayor of NYC gets a ride to his stop.
Do you have Ninkasi available in the stores up there? They have 3 varieties available in big bottles down here, including Tricerahops.
I'm sure we could find you a job back here if you wanted to move back for the beer ;)
Yea, we can buy bottles here and it is also on tap at various bars. It is really good stuff. I wish it had been Eugene when I lived there, so I'll just have to take advantage of their Portland offerings. I do want to come to Eugene and check out their place.
It isn't just celebrities who do these stupid things--they're just the ones we hear about. Freud would say it's ID over ego, others would say nature over nurture or baser urges over rationality. Whatever it is, I think everyone is prone to let their desires override their rationality under certain conditions. If that weren't true, diets would be successful and no-tell motels would go out of business.
I am disappointed in Spitzer though. It was fun watching him take on powerful interests.
I was walking by Taylors this afternoon and the Ninkasi truck was delivering...there was 5-6 kegs and many many cases in the back...I thought about hijacking the truck for you!
